FAKTR, pronounced “factor,” is a revolutionary way to treat soft tissue problems. FAKTR or FAKTR-PM stands for Functional And Kinetic Treatment with Rehabilitation, Provocation and Motion is effective for many conditions, ranging from headaches, back pain, shoulder problems, pain in the elbows, feet, just to name a few. Dr. Tom Hyde and Dr. Greg Doerr developed this soft tissue method with a combination of over 20 years clinical experience using Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization. This concept or method was developed to speed the recovery from acute or chronic musculoskeletal pain syndromes and fascial conditions.
image_1415042_rightFAKTR involves the combination of several different forms of muscle or soft-tissue therapy including manual, the use of hands, to Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM). The use of the IASTM has been especially effective in locating and removing myofascial adhesions and scar tissue. Using these combined with rehabilitation exercises to strengthen the tissues while restrictions are being removed has shown to be extremely effective in speeding the recovery of an injury. Every FAKTR clinician completes extensive training through post-graduate hours in order to achieve certification. Dr. Cueto is a certified and registered FAKTR provider while Dr. Hom is currently completing his certification process.
FAKTR-PM also allows the patient to be treated in a position of provocation. This means that the patient is treated in a position that causes symptoms like pain, tightness, or stiffness. By treating patients in a position of provocation, the provider is able to locate and treat the problem that is causing the symptoms. FAKTR is not effective in all conditions and is not appropriate for all patients. There are both indications and contraindications for the use of FAKTR. As a registered and certified FAKTR provider, Dr. Cueto will determine if your condition is appropriate to receive FAKTR treatment.
